How We Score Brands

Every brand is analyzed across 7 key dimensions and assigned a tier based on its total score. We also report an AI Visibility Score as a separate sidecar metric. Here's what each tier, dimension, and signal means.

Brand Tiers

Your total score (0-100) determines your tier. Each tier reflects a different stage of brand maturity.

Iconic (91 - 100)

Elite brand with market dominance

Your brand is exceptional - recognized, trusted, and admired. You have a cohesive identity across every touchpoint, dominant digital presence, and strong AI readiness. Focus on maintaining excellence and exploring new frontiers.

Strong Brand (81 - 90)

Exceptional brand presence and recognition

Your brand is well-established with strong recognition and trust. You have excellent fundamentals across most dimensions. Focus on polishing the remaining gaps to reach iconic status.

Brand-Ready (71 - 80)

Strong foundation, ready to scale

Your brand has a cohesive identity, strong digital presence, and clear messaging. You're well-positioned to invest in growth marketing and expand into new channels with confidence.

Developing (56 - 70)

Good base, key gaps to address

Your brand fundamentals are in place but there are notable gaps holding you back. Focused improvements in your weakest dimensions will yield significant returns before scaling further.

Early Stage (0 - 55)

Foundational brand work needed

Core elements of your brand are underdeveloped. Prioritize establishing a clear visual identity, consistent messaging, and trustworthy online presence before investing in paid acquisition.

The 7 Dimensions

Each dimension is scored individually from 0-100 and contributes to your overall brand score. Here's what we evaluate in each one.

Name Quality (12%)

Evaluates the linguistic properties of your brand name - how memorable, pronounceable, and distinctive it is.

What we look at:

Digital Presence (18%)

Measures the technical foundation of your online presence - domain, SSL, DNS, social media profiles, and Reddit community presence.

What we look at:

Visual Identity (10%)

Assesses the visual brand elements detected from your website - logo, colors, typography, and favicon.

What we look at:

Messaging Clarity (12%)

Analyzes how clearly your brand communicates its value proposition, mission, and differentiation.

What we look at:

Trust Foundation (18%)

Evaluates the signals that build credibility and trust with visitors. SSL is scored under Digital Presence to avoid double-counting.

What we look at:

AI Readiness (10%)

Measures how well the website is set up for discovery and parsing by AI crawlers and answer engines.

What we look at:

Brand Authority (20%)

Measures off-site and scale signals that distinguish established brands from newcomers - recognition, ecosystem depth, infrastructure maturity, and how often the brand is referenced or discussed.

What we look at:

The AI Visibility Score

Sidecar metric · 0-100

Alongside the main brand score, every analysis also reports an AI Visibility Score - a separate 0-100 estimate of how likely an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) is to recognise, describe accurately, and recommend the brand. It does not contribute to the main brand score - it is shown as a sidecar so you can see brand strength and AI surfaceability independently.

The score is the weighted blend of three pillars: Visibility (45%), Trust (30%), and Recommendation (25%). Hover the AI badge anywhere in the app to see the tier copy.

Visibility (45%)

"Will an AI model have heard of this brand?"

Signals:

Trust (30%)

"If mentioned, will the AI describe and cite the brand favourably?"

Signals:

Recommendation (25%)

"When asked for category options, would an AI suggest this brand?"

Signals:

How the score is combined

Visibility is a prerequisite - an AI cannot recommend a brand it has never heard of - so it carries the heaviest weight. The three pillar scores are each capped at 100, then blended:

AI Visibility = 0.45 × Visibility + 0.30 × Trust + 0.25 × Recommendation

Passive signals vs. active probing

The AI Visibility Score on this page is computed from passive signals - public footprints we can observe without ever talking to an AI: Wikipedia, Wikidata, Tranco, Moz, Reddit, your robots.txt, your structured data, and so on. It's a fast, free proxy for "does an AI likely know this brand?"

For ground-truth measurement, the DataEase AI platform actively probes the major AI engines - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, and others - with hundreds of category-specific prompts, then measures whether your brand is actually surfaced, how it's described, who it's ranked against, and how that changes over time. That's the difference between "you have the ingredients" and "here's exactly what AI is saying about you right now."
